Simone Manifesto Breakdown

Our friends at Simone - a digital creative studio specialising in AR - approached us to make a manifesto video for their socials, to send to clients as an introduction to their energy, and to prompt enquiries from people who wanted to find out more.

They had a script already in place, and the beginnings of a new rebrand for their online presence. The job was to incorporate the colour, typeface and visual motifs along with the script, to tell their story. They didn’t have a lot of motion principles yet, so the video was a chance to discover what sort of movement works for their brand. With a ton of fun 3D assets already created, eye-catching visuals and well-known brands, we had the chance to build something more elevated than a typical showreel.

We built a storyboard based on their script, which ended up being pretty close to the finished product. We changed a few things once production was underway - it’s important not to hold on to your ‘darlings’ (your favourite visuals) unless there’s a very good reason. Some things look amazing as stills, but not so much when they’re in motion.

Initial animation test

Alongside the script, we made some animation tests to show how it would look when in motion. This helped sign-off, as the team could visualise more easily what the final product would become. Once everyone was happy with the look, we cracked on with the animation, feeding back at key points with the team so they could check in with the progress. Simone had a sound designer they liked, so we worked together as the animation changed shape and timing, to make sure the rhythm and pace of the piece delivered the emotional beats we wanted.

We delivered a few different versions of the piece for various platforms and audiences, reusing assets where we could, or creating new ones as they were needed. The team were super happy with the results, and the collaboration between Simone and Scram continues today!
